Executive Chef, Tim Vu
Originally from Vietnam, Chef Tim Vu relocated to North Bay, Ontario at the age of 13. He began his hospitality journey in high school, working part-time as a dishwasher at the Ramada Inn. After graduating, he pursued culinary training at George Brown College in Toronto, which set the foundation for a hotel career that spans more than 35 years. He has spent over 20 of those years at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, where he leads the kitchen at Harold’s Kitchen & Bar.
Chef Vu is known for creating food that feels welcoming and familiar. His menus change with the seasons and with guest feedback, and several signature dishes have become long-time staples. His cooking features generous portions, comforting flavours, and influences from both Mediterranean cuisine and the vibrant Asian food scene in Richmond, BC.
Away from the hotel, he and his wife have raised two grown children, and she proudly takes the lead in their home kitchen. At Harold’s, Chef Vu brings warmth, consistency, and a genuine love of feeding people, which has helped make the restaurant a place that feels like home for guests and locals alike.
About Harold’s Kitchen & Bar
Every day for over 30 years, Mr. Harold Cross dropped by our restaurant for lunch. In fact, guests would often see him sitting at his usual spot by the window, greeting everyone by name, sharing a laugh and offering a warm smile. Our biggest fan and one of the nicest people we’ve ever meet, we couldn’t think of a better name for our restaurant.
On May 15th, 2020, Harold Cross passed away peacefully at the age of 98. His memory will live on in our restaurant name, his special table and commemorative plaque, the dishes named after him and most of all, the stories from our associates. Every year we celebrate Harold’s birthday on July 24th, and we’ll continue this tradition of celebrating his life and legacy with his family, our associates and guests.
